School Policy · Version 1.0
Effective August 23, 2026. Please read this policy carefully — you must agree to it before submitting a lesson booking request.
1. Driver's Licence Requirement
- Students must provide a valid BC Learner's Driver's Licence, Driver's Licence, or valid foreign driver's licence before their first lesson.
- Students must carry their valid driver's licence with them during every driving lesson.
- A photocopy, photograph, or picture of the licence on a phone is not acceptable.
No valid licence = no lesson.
2. Fees & Lesson Duration
- All applicable prices and fees are displayed on the Kami Driving School website.
- Each driving lesson is 60 minutes.
- A standard one-hour lesson consists of approximately 50 minutes of in-car driving practice.
- The remaining 10 minutes are for reviewing progress, discussing areas for improvement, and planning or booking the next lesson.
- Applicable taxes will be charged as required.
3. Cancellation & Rescheduling
- If a student wishes to cancel or reschedule a driving lesson, at least 6 working hours' notice is required.
- If sufficient notice is not provided, a $50 cancellation/rescheduling fee may be charged.
- Students must contact Kami Driving School by phone or email to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
- Cancellation or rescheduling is not considered complete until it has been acknowledged and recorded by Kami Driving School.
4. Discontinuing Driving Instruction & Refunds
- If a student wishes to discontinue driver instruction, Kami Driving School may refund the unused portion of the package based on the applicable unused lesson value, less a $50 administration fee.
- If a student purchased a discounted lesson package and discontinues the package, the package discount will no longer apply to lessons already completed.
- Completed lessons will be charged at the applicable individual lesson rate when calculating the remaining refundable amount.
- No refund will be provided for driving lessons that have already taken place.
5. Passengers
- Kami Driving School provides individual in-car driver training.
- Only the student and instructor are permitted in the training vehicle during a regular driving lesson unless otherwise approved by Kami Driving School.
6. Road Test Vehicle
- Students may arrange to use a Kami Driving School training vehicle for their ICBC road test, subject to vehicle and instructor availability.
- The applicable road-test vehicle fee will apply.
- Students may also arrange a warm-up lesson before their road test at the applicable lesson rate, subject to availability.
- Road-test vehicle availability is not guaranteed until the booking has been confirmed by Kami Driving School.
7. Cancelling a Road Test
- Students who have arranged a road-test vehicle through Kami Driving School must provide at least 48 hours' notice if they need to cancel or reschedule the road-test appointment.
- Insufficient notice may result in applicable fees being charged.
- ICBC's own road-test cancellation and rescheduling rules may also apply.
8. Payments
- Lesson packages are prepaid unless otherwise specified by Kami Driving School.
- Individual lesson and road-test-related payments must be made according to the payment terms provided by Kami Driving School.
- There will be no refund for driving lessons or road-test services that have already taken place.
- If a student has prepaid for a lesson or road-test service and does not provide the required cancellation notice, the applicable cancellation or no-show fee may be charged or deducted from the prepaid amount.
- Accepted payment methods may include the payment methods displayed by Kami Driving School at the time of purchase or booking.
9. Lesson Package Expiry
- All lesson packages expire one year from the date of the student's first completed driving lesson.
- The one-year validity period begins on the date the student completes their first driving lesson under the package.
- The package expiry date is not calculated from the date the package was purchased.
- Example: if a student purchases a package on January 1 but completes their first lesson on January 15, the package expires one year from January 15.
- This rule is applied consistently across the student account, package details, booking system, admin dashboard, package balance, expiry notifications, and invoices or records where applicable.
Package validity starts at your first completed lesson — not at purchase.
10. Road Test Booking
- Students are responsible for booking their ICBC road test unless Kami Driving School specifically provides a booking service.
- Road-test appointments are subject to ICBC availability and requirements.
- Using a Kami Driving School vehicle for a road test is subject to availability and confirmation by Kami Driving School.
11. Booking Policy Consent
- Every lesson booking request requires the student to confirm they have read and agree to this School Policy.
- The consent, the policy version, and the date and time of acceptance are recorded permanently with the booking.
- A booking request cannot be submitted without this consent.
- Submitted requests are created with status Pending; a booking is only Confirmed after Kami Driving School reviews and approves it, and invoices are issued after that confirmation.
- An available instructor is automatically assigned when a booking is confirmed. Kami Driving School may reassign instructors where required.
- Lessons are available 7 days a week based on availability. Monday to Saturday may be requested through the online booking calendar. Sunday is closed for online booking; Sunday lessons may be available by request and are arranged manually by Kami Driving School.
- Kami Driving School provides professional instruction and road-test preparation. Road-test results are determined by ICBC and the examiner, and a passing result is not guaranteed.
